Cornish Getaway: Fowey Harbour Hotel

The Harbour Hotels are easily my favourite chain of stylish hotels. Last year we fell in love with the St Ives Harbour Hotel so I was super excited to be invited to check out their hotel in Fowey. The Victorian boutique hotel is nestled on the west bank of the River Fowey with picture perfect views across the estuary, a real Cornish escape.

The Fowey Harbour Hotel offers a quintessentially seaside escape, different to your usual coastal getaway. Entering the hotel we were in awe of the contemporary decor and welcomed with not only a warm greeting, but a glass of fizz too - hospitality at it’s finest! My best friend Leah came along too - newly engaged, it meant that we had fantastic excuse to celebrate.

Our room was absolutely gorgeous and so cosy! Not only did we have a king-size bed, but also a living room area with two chairs, perfectly positioned to look out onto the water. The room boasts high windows, allowing natural light to fill the room and compliment the contemporary decor. I’ve always felt spoilt when staying with Harbour Hotels - we enjoyed a couple of complimentary gin and tonics, before making our way down to the restaurant for dinner. The lovely team at Fowey Harbour Hotel also left us a little box of chocolates alongside a welcome note - it’s the little details that mean the most!

The bar and restaurant area makes for a perfect hang out spot, with a relaxed yet buzzing vibe in beautiful surroundings. This area is also open to non-residents, which is perfect if you want to celebrate a special occasion or just fancy a sneaky cocktail. ⁣

Dinner was incredible. To start with, Leah and I went for the smoked duck salad and baked cheese souffle, alongside some fruity cocktails! For main, Leah tucked into steak whilst I enjoyed the salmon. We both agreed that the food was amazing and a fabulous spot to celebrate a special occasion. Like every Harbour hotel, the bar and restaurant is the main attraction - beautiful decor, delicious food, and unforgettable views.

The following morning we took advantage of the room’s balcony - coffee in the sunshine was the perfect way to start a Sunday. Breakfast in the restaurant was also a real treat. We chose from a selection of foods from the continental buffet and the cooked breakfast menu. I went for the eggs benedict, vegan flapjack and berry yogurt, whilst Leah enjoyed the cooked breakfast and fresh fruit.

After breakfast, we made our way down to the coastal port to explore. Fowey is full of Cornish charm, with cobbled streets aligned with boutique shops and pretty coffee spots. A photographer’s dream. A few years ago Fowey may have been forgotten, but recently it’s become a prime destination to visit in Cornwall. More quirky food spots seem to be emerging (including the iconic Appletons), as well as independent shops and impressive hotels. As soon as the water warms up, I hope to grab a paddleboard and explore Fowey from a different perspective.⁣

Thank you @foweyharbourhotel // @harbour_hotels for a wonderful weekend. I can’t wait to visit Fowey again, and the hotel for a cocktail or two. Our stay was complimentary but all opinions are my own.
