The Scarlet Hotel: Spa Days in Cornwall
Heaven is a place in Mawgan Porth, Cornwall. The Scarlet is an eco, adult-only hotel & spa, perched proudly on the cliffside overlooking the Atlantic. Inspired by the Ayurvedic tradition, The Scarlet focuses on reconnecting human connection and holistic wellbeing through bespoke moments. The Scarlet’s doors are now open for shorter spa experiences, treatments and casual outdoor dining.
The Scarlet recently welcomed new Head Chef, Craig Davies. Previously, Davies was awarded 3 AA Rosettes at Paschoe House and has several very exciting dining plans for The Scarlet. At the moment, afternoon tea and lunch are available from the terrace. I was completely blown away by the unique flavours, presentation of the food, and how welcoming the team were.
For starters, we tucked into charcuterie and chickpea spice rolls - I cannot explain how explosive the flavours were. For our main dish, we opted for the Thai salmon cakes - again, they were utterly delicious! Considering this was my first meal out of the house (re lockdown) it felt like a huge treat! Sunshine, outstanding food, and a world-class view - what more could you want?
After lunch, I enjoyed a Tula Facial ~ the face is cleansed and exfoliated, and then a cold compress is placed onto the skin to boost moisture and keep the face visibly enlivened. After the treatment, I was welcomed into their hidden deep relaxation room; a dark area with cocoon-like swinging pods. The perfect place to relax, post-treatment.
The Scarlet’s outdoor natural reed-filtered pool is just as charming as their indoor pool. For a couple of hours, it felt like we were on holiday. For me, the highlight of the day was watching the waves roll into Mawgan Porth from the log-fired cliffside jacuzzi with a glass of fizz. Tranquility at its finest. I often wonder, why would you want to be anywhere else when we are blessed with locations like this?
